The new release of Unbuntu - 9.04, has been released thursday. Having used their version 8.10 for a while now, I could not resist to download the alternate ISO installer yesterday and proceed with the upgrade. Here are the different steps...

First, copy the installer to the directory of your choice, mount the ISO image and start the upgrade:


After that, it's all graphic...


A little reminder that some of the 3rd party sources have been disabled during the upgrade:


... before the upgrade resumes:




Almost finished as it will clean up the installation from obsolete packages:


Confirm the packages you want to un-install:



And that's done!
Edit your boot menu manually if like me you're using a dual boot system, then reboot.

After the reboot, confirm the kernel/release you're running:


A simple upgrade with a happy ending...
